Hey there! It’s so nice to meet you.
My name is Paige MacRae, founder of Mountain Light Psychotherapy. I am a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying (RPQ) licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I provide virtual counselling across Ontario, making it easier to access compassionate, personalized support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
I work with adults, teens, and couples, with a special passion for supporting individuals and couples navigating the family planning journey. Whether you're facing infertility, undergoing fertility treatments like IVF, experiencing pregnancy or perinatal loss, or trying to make sense of the emotional rollercoaster that often comes with these experiences, you don’t have to do it alone.
This work is deeply personal to me. Living with chronic reproductive health conditions and anxiety has given me firsthand insight into the emotional complexities that can accompany chronic pain, family planning, and the ways these experiences can impact relationships, identity, and mental well-being. While every journey is unique, I understand how isolating these challenges can feel, and I'm passionate about creating a space where clients feel understood and supported.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line. Before entering private practice, I worked in corrections and forensic mental health, where I witnessed the gaps that exist within our mental health system. Although that work was incredibly meaningful, I knew I wanted the opportunity to provide care in a way that felt more personal, collaborative, and client-centered. That led me to complete my Master's in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and entering the private practice field I am in today.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing from a variety of evidence-based therapies because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every person who walks into therapy brings a unique story, and together we'll find the tools and strategies that best support your goals.
I would describe my style in session as warm, laid-back, transparent, and approachable. I firmly believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role isn't to tell you what to do—it's to walk alongside you as we explore what's been weighing on you, celebrate your progress, and gently challenging the patterns that may no longer be serving you. I'll always meet you with honesty, compassion, and encouragement. But that doesn’t mean therapy has to be exclusively about the challenges! I always make it a point to celebrate the big milestones or the small victories along your healing journey as well.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me painting, getting lost in a good romantasy novel, playing video games, or spending time outdoors camping, hiking, or paddleboarding with my partner and friends. I also share my life with my partner, our cat Ezzie, and our dog, Frankie, who is currently training to become a therapy dog. You might even see him from time to time during our virtual sessions!
Wherever you are in your healing journey, I'm honored that you are considering allowing me to be part of it. Healing doesn't happen overnight, but you certainly don't have to do it alone.
Have questions or want to see if we would be the right fit? I encourage you to book a free 15-minute consultation so we can go over any questions you might have! :)
